I felt the need to elaborate on why I like this quote so much:
As I was looking at a quilt site, there was an interview with a very successful quilter who had become an instructer. As I was glancing at the questions and her answers, I came across this quote that she said she believed in. It really jumped out at me.
“service is the rent that I pay for the space that I occupy on earth.”
Part of why it stood out was her attitude toward what she was going. She not only loved quilting but she loved being able to use that skill to help others. She didn't spend all of her time making quilts even thought she loved it. She also gave value to other areas in her life and looked for opportunities to share and serve others. It was really refreshing to hear someone express service that way.
I really like that quote. I'm a firm believer in service and I feel that the greatest thing which I can do is help others and not think so much about myself. I truly believe in the "Lose yourself in Service" motto. Whenever I'm having one of those "Woe is me" days, I get out there and do something productive to brighten someone else's day.
